Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre

"Our people should not forget their past and how the ir ancestors used to live and on what they relied on in their lives. The more they come to feel and know more about their heritage, the more they are interested in their country and willing to defend it."

The late Sheikh Zayed

The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre is a monument to the late Sheikh Zayed, a tribute to his commitment to the natural and cultural life of the UAE, and a symbol of the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort’s (AWPR) own ongoing commitment to conservation and sustainable living.

Both aesthetically and practically, this extraordinary building lights a torch and points the way to a future, where wildlife, culture and education are protected, celebrated and honoured.

Simultaneously a sustainable building and a breathtaking sculpture, its contours echo the imposing mass of Jebel Hafeet, a spectacular backdrop to the AWPR. The geographic strata of the surrounding landscape is reflected and continued in the building, through a system of ramps and multiple levels. In harmony with the land and ensconced among lush, verdant plantings, the building is in dialogue with the cultural and natural world of Al Ain.
