The Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort (AWPR) offers a unique leisure, learning and living experience, founded on a vision of harmonious and respectful existence with wildlife and nature. We are set to become an international reference for sustainable living and a centre of excellence for people around the world who care about their natural environment.
The AWPR is not a new endeavour; it builds on the 40 year heritage of the Al Ain Zoo. Evolving from the far-sighted vision of the late Sheikh Zayed, it is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage and values of the UAE, and Al Ain in particular.
This ambitious development reshapes the existing zoo as a world-class exhibit of desert biodiversity, perfectly re-creating habitats of Africa, Arabia, Australia, North America and Asia. Exciting animal safaris will showcase desert wildlife in a fun and educational natural environment.
The AWPR will also offer luxury resort accommodation, a commercial mixed-use complex and tranquil residential communities for people who want to experience and learn about wildlife and nature. As a non-profit Government agency, any revenue it generates from commercial activities will go to support wildlife and conservation efforts as a whole.
Conservation and education are among our founding principles, and we have close partnerships with the San Diego Zoological Society, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami and the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi. Through our education, research and conservation programmes, the AWPR is building a reputation for excellence and leadership in the international conservation community through saving endangered species and their habitats.
With its sensitively designed residential communities, the AWPR will be a worldwide model for living in harmony with wildlife and nature, embracing sustainable energy technologies and practices wherever possible. Initiatives include extensive use of photovoltaic solar panels, waste to energy conversion systems, drip irrigation and waste water collection and several others.
